How
to attract all that you want*
(although you probably won't win the Lottery)
by Annie Meachem
Have
you noticed how some people seem to be born lucky - opportunities seem to
just turn up out of the blue for them, they have a habit of being in the right
place at the right time, and on the whole life appears to be relatively effortless,
a charmed existence.
And yet for other people, life seems to be a struggle, where one disaster
after another befalls them. In your own life, can you remember times when
you've wanted something to happen, or you've set out to achieve something,
or to acquire something, and it has all worked out really effortlessly, as
if it was just meant to be. And other times, you've had to push and try and
been beset with obstacles at every turn?
What do you put this down to? Is it divine will, or fate, or a random lucky
or unlucky circumstance, 'just one of those things'?
In his recent book called How to Be Lucky, a psychologist called Dr Richard
Wiseman carried out scientifically sound statistical surveys on people who
considered themselves to be successful and lucky.
What he discovered was that these people shared certain characteristics: "
They had an optimistic outlook on life " They had an expectation that life
would work out well " They often followed their intuitive hunches " And they
were able to look for the gift in difficult situations.
There is another explanation being put forward, which recent developments
in physics are moving towards being able to prove, but which many people's
anecdotal evidence and experiences support. This theory builds on Dr Wiseman's
observations regarding lucky people. It states that there exist Universal
Laws of Attraction which hold good for how the world operates just as the
Laws of Gravity determine what happens when your toast slips off your plate.
According to these laws, we attract to us what we focus on, so that the lucky
people who expect that things will work out well find that, why yes, they
do, and those people who think life's just one bad thing after another, discover
they've attracted to them yet another bad thing. You could say that we create
our own reality.
So, what can we use these laws for? We can work with the Universal Laws of
Attraction to enable us to bring into reality in our lives anything that we
truly, deeply want and are prepared to invest our energies and emotions in.
There are a couple of American guys who have set themselves the goal of creating
10 million new dollar millionaires over the next decade using these principles
- or we can choose to manifest a new relationship, our ideal home abroad,
a satisfying career, whatever we dream of.
But I'm afraid it's not as simple as thinking 'Well, I'ld like to live with
Brad Pitt in a luxury mansion in the Caribean', or 'I'ld like to solve the
Middle East political situation'.
As with all laws of this physical world, there are many other factors that
come into play as well and affect the outcomes - here's a couple of them:-
We have to be very clear about what we want - If the image changes from Brad
Pitt one day to Sean Connery the next, and the lad in the office the day after,
none of these is likely to become your reality. We need to create a crystal
clear vision of our future to attract it.
Our outer world mirrors our inner world - So if we want to make changes in
what exists in our outer world, we have to start the process by investigating
our inner world.
It's a fascinating process to discover the laws of attraction and to watch
the results unfold as the principles are applied. The possibilities are only
limited by your imagination!
Coaching exercise:-
+ What would you like to 'attract' into your life?
+ Are you unwittingly stopping yourself from getting the very things you say
you want?
+ Would you like to learn the secrets of manifesting your desires?
